Reduce stigma of mental illness – Increase help

What is Let’s Talk?

“45% of people will experience mental illness at some point in their lives. Let’s Talk Australia aims to combat this by educating and encouraging people to ‘Head Out’ & get actively involved in their community.”

“We know that simple things like getting out in our environment, exercising and socialising can do amazing things for our mental wellbeing. It could be just what your mate needs to get out of that dark place. But how do you find out what’s right for them? What’s happening in your local area? And who to contact when things are bad?”

“This website includes a calendar of events throughout the Great South Coast that have known benefits to our mental well-being (including events run by mental health agencies & community not-for-profit events).”

“The site is also a resource/tool/collaboration of information for everyone and anyone to use. It has details on things anyone can do to get themselves and/or a friend or family member in a better head space, as well as contact details of agencies they may require when the going gets tough.”

This project was initiated by a volunteer team from Leadership Great South Coast. We pursued this project because we have all been touched in different ways by mental health.

We believe it could make a huge difference for people who are struggling, carers and friends who aren’t sure what to do or who to call, community groups trying to promote events, and everyone else who might have a bad day every now and then.
